Why I Love YouTube: How to make Plarn! by aephemera

I now have a use for the giant bag of bags in my utility closet. LOL! I am going to be a trashion designer! I'm thinking totebags, purses, vests, a tie, wallets, pocketbooks, picnic blankets, shoe covers, table cloths, rugs...the possibilities are endless. Obnoxious and free fun for everyone!!! *cue maniacal laughter*

Patterns of Interest: Chez Crochet Rasta Hat

I have locs. Often referred to as dreadlocks but I dread nothing about them. I love my hair. As a person with locs, I feel connected somehow to other loc wearers. It's like a worldwide community. I see folks with locs on the street and when we catch each other's eye, we speak or smile. Sometimes we stop and talk and compliments, encouragement and questions are exchanged. The only issue that I have with my locs are that hats don't fit anymore. I was once a hat person. Actually, I still am a hat person but it's more complicated now. Thankfully, crochet solves part of the problem and it's much easier to crochet in my free time than to go to millinery school. I can make my own hat whenever I want to. My favorite pattern so far is the Chez Crochet Rasta Hat, I found it by doing a simple online search - crochet pattern rasta hat. I have been able to modify it to my liking - increasing and decreasing stitches for the length of my locs, the "circumference of my brother's afro, etc. I have not perfected it yet but I'll keep working at it as my locs grow longer and his 'fro gets wider. The hat featured is made (roughly) with the Chez Crochet Rasta Hat pattern. I tried to customize it to fit the current circumference of my brother Aldan's beautiful, red afro.

Yarn: RedHeart SuperSaver in Black and Hunter.

If you use it, be sure to give a shout out to the folks at Chez Crochet and let them and me know how it works for you. If you come up with your own pattern, please share the love and post a link in my comment section.

Blessings!

Patterns of Interest: Diggityk's Wine Bottle Gift Bag

I was surfing the net looking for a wine bag to crochet for a bridal shower I will be attending in two weeks. Not only is this a nice looking bag but the blog looks like a place I might want to visit often. The pattern can be found in the Crochaya 4 Life section. When you visit, show some love and tell them deiej sent you.

My New Blog

I'm starting this blog for my art and design activities. On this blog, I will:

Display my creations
Share patterns
Review products
Showcase artists who inspire me
Facilitate discussions
Post pictures

No type of art is off limits. I hope this turns out to be a great way to chronicle my journey as an artist, share my ideas and learn from others on the web.

Here goes!
